Basic ratio
- White rice: 1 cup rice + 1.5 cups water
- Jasmine/Basmati: often 1:1.25–1.5
- Brown rice needs more water + time
Steps that matter
- Rinse until water is mostly clear
- Bring to a boil, then immediately cover and simmer low
- No peeking
- Rest 10 minutes off heat, then fluff
Troubleshooting
- Too wet: lid off 2–3 minutes on low to dry
